Top 50 things to do in and around Sunriver, Oregon

  1. Bike on the many bike paths. By far the best way to explore the Sunriver community.  

  2. Float down the Deschutes river. Take a float trip on a raft, kayak or canoe from the Sunriver Marina.  Other rentals can be organized from the many vendors at Sunriver Village.

  3. Hike or bike to Benham falls.

  4. Get a treat from Goody’s in Sunriver Village.  Great selection of ice creams, chocolates, and milkshakes.

  5. Enjoy an award winning beer from the Sunriver Brewing Company brewpub.  

  6. Hit the water slides and lazy river at the SHARC.

  7. Trail ride at the Sunriver stables.  Young kids can take short pony rides too.  

  8. Dinner at Hola at a scenic location next to the Sunriver Marina, serving authentic Peruvian and Mexican cuisine.

  9. Order pizza from Blondie’s Pizzeria.  They deliver for free in Sunriver.

  10. Visit the nearby Lava Lands Visitor Center and take a short trip up to the summit of Lava Butte

  11. Explore the Lava River Cave.  Take a self guided tour of this mile-long lava river tube. Don’t forget warm clothes and a flashlight.  

  12. Star gaze at the Sunriver Observatory

  13. View the sun at the Sunriver Observatory during their daytime viewing hours, using special filters.

  14. Check out the birds of prey and other wildlife exhibits at the Sunriver Nature Center.

  15. Visit Fort Rock Park and enjoy the playground or have a family picnic

  16. Rent a kayak from Sunriver Marina

  17. Take a Bend brewery tour.  The Crux Fermentation Project is one of our favorites.

  18. Day trip to Crater Lake National park. Just under 2 hrs away from Sunriver.  

  19. Ski the many trails at Mt Bachelor during the winter.

  20. Visit the High Desert Museum.

  21. Mountain bike on Mt Bachelor or one of the many Deschutes bike trails.

  22. Book a fly fishing trip. Visit the Cascades Guides and Outfitters at Sunriver.

  23. Play mini golf (summer) or go ice skating (in the winter) at the Sunriver village mall.

  24. Take a dog sled ride at Mt Bachelor in the winter.

  25. Grab a coffee and freshly made pastry at Brewed Awakenings in the Sunriver village mall

  26. Play golf at one of the famed nearby golf courses

  27. Do Paulina’s plunge. Downhill bike trip along Paulina creek which ends with a plunge via a natural slide and waterfall.  

  28. Have a world class meal at the South Bend Bistro.  Enjoy their local cuisine and excellent wines in an intimate atmosphere in the Sunriver Village.  

  29. Take a white water rafting trip on the Deschutes river.  Trips can be booked through Sun Country Tours.

  30. Look for deals and antiques at the Second Tern store.  A mom and pop type thrift store close to Sunriver. All proceeds benefit the local Sunriver Nature Center.

  31. Check out Sunriver VR, a local virtual reality fun house for games and virtual reality experiences.  

  32. Pamper yourself at the Sage Springs Spa. Book a massage, facial, or a steam and soak.  

  33. Try out a game of pickleball at the court by Fort Rock Park.

  34. Pick up a new book at Sunriver Books & Music in the Village.  An independent bookstore with a full selection of books featuring Fiction, Non Fiction, Mystery, Travel, Children’s, Animal, Local Interest, Hiking, Biking, Golfing.  They also carry a selection of fine handcrafted pens from Europe.

  35. Find a new board game or puzzle at the Tumbleweeds toy store.  They have a wide selection of puzzles and blocks, dolls and bubbles, art supplies, toys, cards and journals, plus indoor and outdoor activities.

  36. Try your hand with wooden sign painting, glass fusing, canvas or ceramic painting at Live Laugh Love Art in the Village.  This is a fun art activity center in the heart of the village which has a “Drop-In” format that allows you to stop in anytime, pick a project and Get Creative!

  37. Pick up some fresh ingredients at the Sunriver country store to cook up a fabulous meal at home.

  38. Day trip to Smith Rock State Park.

  39. Grab some excellent craft pizza at the Fold Kitchen and enjoy their stellar cocktails.  Outdoor seating available and conveniently located within the Sunriver Village.  

  40. Book at tennis lesson with one of Sunriver Resort’s tennis pros

  41. Try out a fun fitness class at the Flex + Flow Fitness Studio located in the Sunriver Business Park.  

  42. During the summer take the kids on the Alpine Express, a trackless train ride around the Village at Sunriver, all ages welcome!

  43. Visit Good 2 Go in the Village for snowmobile rentals during the winter and water sport rentals or information on trips and tours.

  44. Start your morning with a visit to the Hot Lava Baking company in the Village.  Enjoy their wide variety of traditional bakery products, including donuts and pastries, “scratch” produced and made FRESH daily.

  45. Visit West of the Moon to browse their selection of home furnishings, folk art, musical instruments, apparel, jewelry and accessories sourced from all over the globe.

  46. Stop by the Central Oregon Visitors Association in the Village to learn about the many seeking recreation, dining, and sightseeing attractions available in the surrounding areas.

  47. Visit the Hook Fly Shop, home of Cascade Guides & Outfitters, to arrange a guided fishing trip or to purchase some fly fishing equipment or outdoor gear.  

  48. During the summer, enjoy the bounce houses, bumper cars, and climbing wall set up at the Sunriver Village.

  49. Enjoy a Northwest craft beer at the outdoor beer garden behind the Sunriver Resort.  The Backyard restaurant and bar is both kid and dog friendly and often features live music and food trucks in the Summer.
